Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God

Restoration of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, Late 19th – Early 20th Century The icon arrived in poor condition with significant losses in the facial areas (lichnoye), down to the wooden support. The restoration included cleaning of the copper riza from dirt and oxidation, consolidation of the board and ground layer, ground application in areas of loss, and inpainting of missing fragments in the facial areas.
